Hugo : Ready for adoption

Hugo is a lovely boy ,other charities will not consider taking him because of his allergies.

This issue he has is controlled ,he may even be able to come off or reduce medication in the future.

This would be under supervision of any vet and their advice, you never know how things can work out with allergies.

Please please do not let this put you off rehoming Hugo ,as he has so much to give in return.

Happy to advertise and carry out homechecks, and meet and greets if all parties are happy with our policy over the holiday period.

Please do read this advert FULLY before applying for Hugo,do not apply if you do not fit his criteria, thank you

Looking for a home with people whom are very fit & active ,as Hugo is active boy himself.

Hugo can live with another dog

Can live with children 8 plus (note children always need to be respectful around dogs)

No cats please

Garden needs to be safe and secure, fences walls etc at least 6 foot, gates must have a lock

We need Hugo in a home with people at home most of the time as this boy loves attention and company.

If you live in rented accommodation we will ask for documentation that a dog can live in this property

Hugo is located in Essex and we would ask the potential applicant ,to carry out as many and greets as required. We do this because this is about Hugo’s future ,everyone needs to be happy ,especially Hugo.

It has been such a hard decision for Hugo’s owners to contact us ,to ask us to help rehome him.

He has been dearly loved since a puppy and is still loved ,but sadly circumstances have changed within their family.

Work commitments, lifestyle changes, expense, children etc and they feel Hugo needs more than they can give him.

It’s the most unselfish act any owner can do,putting their dogs needs before their own.

We as a caring charity ,are so privileged we can help find this lovely boy a forever home, and we will try our best to be the best.

PLEASE READ THIS SEGMENT CAREFULLY

Hugo suffers with allergies ,he has been through many tests at the vets ,and his owners have made sure they are doing everything possible to relieve the symptoms and stress to help Hugo.

He was on Apoquel for a short period of time, but these cannot be used long term.

About a year ago the vet put him on allergy injections called Cytopoint, these are being administered every 6 weeks at present.

In time these maybe to be reduced further with the vet advice ,always go with the vets recommendations.

These injections cost at the owners vets £114.00 every six weeks and have really improved Hugo’s allergies.

We believe his allergies are grass, maybe pollen related and he cannot have any food stuffs containing wheat products.

Please please do see past his allergies as Hugo is the most kind natured, happy, loving boy and needs our support finding him that special home.

The insurance company is quite happy to transfer the policy over to the new owners, and this will be discussed further when we go through the rehoming process.

Grooming Requirements

Hugo has a soft straight /wavy coat ,he only sheds minimally as all dogs shed some amount.

He is happy to be brushed through at home.

Attends a Professional groomers every 6 weeks.

Hugo’s coat is kept short due to comfort for him, with his allergies.

Exercise

Hugo loves going out for his walks ,and he gets a good hour a day.

His owners found using a Halti is much easier for them to control him,as he occasionally pulls.

This is something that his new owners could work towards, with loose lead training rather than using a Halti.

His recall is good, but Doodle Aid would advise not allowing him off lead until you have complete trust in one another.

Hugo likes the agility items in parks etc,and he does love to play with a ball.

He is a very social boy ,attends going out with a dog walker 4 times a week, and mixes and mingles with many other dogs on his walks.

General information :

Hugo really is your typical doodle, full of fun, goofy, intelligent, always eager to please, and loves company. He is the most gentle sweet nature boy ,and will make special new owners a wonderful companion.

Hugo can still get very excited in some situations ,like when visitors come to the owners home,he will get giddy and jump up,as he loves attention and people.

This is something his new owners could help him with on some basic positive training.

Hugo lives with a small child and gets on great,if he has had enough he will step away and take himself off into a space of his own.

Hugo is toilet trained, but do allow for an accidents with any new dogs entering a new and strange environment.

He sleeps in the kitchen at night ( but it’s totally the new owners choice where they woukd like Hugo to sleep)

Hugo is non destructive in the home

Can be left for short periods of time,as a rule we as a responsible charity would say no longer than 3 hours in one day.Hugo loves attention and company.

DIET PLEASE READ CAREFULLY

Because of his allergies his owners have him on CJ food ,only natural treats and no human food stuffs.

Hugo is not crate trained

Travels well in the car on the back seat, with a dog safety belt

Hugo dislikes fireworks so please prepare him ,prior to firework nights.Theres so much information online that may help.

Hugo loves swimming and spending time at the beach

Things Hugo enjoys ,if you have a ball Hugo will do anything. More so over treats (must be natural treats)He loves running and being chased / chasing with other dogs. He has a lot of toys - Kong dog toys are good for Hugo using his brain to get the treats out.

We cannot stress enough how wonderful Hugo is needs a home where his new people can give him more exercise, spend more time with him,a little bit of training here and there.

But most of all give him the love and attention he so desires and which he has had since a puppy in his own home.
