PLEASE READ BEFORE CONSIDERING USING OUR SERVICES
Some folks have asked how operate firstly we are a Registered Charity https://register-of-charities.charitycommission.gov.uk/...
We have been a Registered Charity many many years ,and even before we were Registered we rehomed many a Doodles in need, for around 18 years.
Doodle Aid does not do a lot of self promoting most of our rehomes are by word and mouth,we do not go actively looking to rehome Doodles off of any internet selling sites.
In an ideal world we would like to find ways people keep their Doodles before contacting us,sometimes we can give other advice that maybe of help to them before considering to rehome.A Dog Trainer or Behaviourist would be your first port of call if you have behavioural issues with your dog,as many people are not aware this might solve many a problem going forward.
PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER REHOMING AND FILLING OUT FORMS IF YOU ARE NOT SURE.
DO NOT PLAY US OFF AGAINST OTHER CHARITIES
WE ARE INDEPENDENT FROM ALL OF THEM ,AND DO NOT INVOLVE OURSELVES WITH OTHERS JUST DO WHAT WE BELIEVE IS BEST FOR THE DOODLES
IF YOU CANNOT TRAVEL FOR AS MANY MEET AND GREETS AS REQUIRED,THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE CHARITY FOR YOU
If you do find yourselves in a situation and need a chat about rehoming we are of course available, firstly by email contact@doodleaid.com then we will contact you directly if we feel we can help.
We spend time going through various aspects on the phone to people that need our assistance in rehoming.
We do ask you them to take time filling out an Donate A Dog form, completing this with as much information as possible.
This information is the most important part of out rehoming process, because we need to know everything we possibly can about each individual dog coming through Doodle Aid.
We do ask for medical history, vaccination records, and microchip details.
Once we have gathered all the information we will start the process of rehoming.
The adverts take quite a while to publish,as does advertising on websites and other social media platforms.
Once the applications are closed we will then have the mammoth task of colabrating all the applications together ,which sometimes could go over hundreds.
Once we have found a number of fabulous applications ,we will start the homecheck process.
This will be via the phone ,rather like a interview,we ask you questions and we love it when you ask us questions back.
Before the physical/video homecheck occurs we ask for photos of your property to be emailed to us.
A physical or video homecheck will also be required, plus some form of ID with a current address of your property.
Once the Rehoming Team have decided it’s a great match for the Doodle in question we will contact the owner ,giving our views and again asking theirs.
If everyone is happy going forward we will ask for several meet and greets to take place.
We find this is much kinder for all parties concerned, nobody wants to see a dog pulled straight out of a home they love to strangers immediately.
If there’s another dog involved they need time to get to know each other,so these meet and greets could take longer.
By doing this everyone gets to see how things are progressing and if they would like to progress further. But our golden rule is to keep Doodle Aid in the loop at all times.
OUR GOAL MIGHT TAKE LONGER BUT PREFER TO GET IT RIGHT !
Of course if an emergency comes along we do use fosters parents if necessary.
Same again again they need to be vetted fully with a homecheck.
Doodle Aid is on call for the Fosters 24/7 and are always at the end of the phone.
We supply everything a foster Doodle may need in the fosters home, but always need to be informed firstly of the requirements.
Doodle Aid will only take a small portion of Doodles in at one time,as we find some people will just apply for them all.
This does not give the others that have been advertised longer, a chance if we keep putting new adverts on.So we have a waiting list and put a few on at a time, they will all get our undivided attention, but it’s about finding the right homes not just any homes after all these Doodles are precious to us all.
Also we do not stop any contact between the previous owners and the new owners, this is entirely up to the individuals themselves
All potential owners & homes are fully vetted along with a full homecheck.
Hope this really helps you understand our process ,we have a different way of doing things to some charities.
But one thing we ask please consider our precious time ,do not muck us around ,as we could be helping the next dog whilst you have wasted our time.
We are are both volunteers we work endless hours for free,we do this because we love the dogs and want the best for them at all times.
We do not tolerate rudeness at any cost.
Thank you for your support as always
