Rocco : APPLICATIONS CLOSED

Meet Rocco ,we are still taking applications for this young boy.

Had some extra information today from his lovely owner and we have edited the advert on owners request .

Please read this advert fully before applying for Rocco.

If you do not meet his criteria do not apply, thank you

Location Norfolk area ,you will be requested to travel to carry out as many meet and greets as required.

Reference Location, his owner would be happy travel with him to meets too, if someone somebody was really interested the distance wouldn’t worry them,as he is worth all the travelling

Rocco is an adorable boy,his owners have found it very hard coming to the decision to rehome him as he is dearly loved.

They feel his needs must come before their own,and would love him to be placed in a home where he is loved as much as he is with them.

Rocco has had a previous home before this family rehomed him,he was only a young dog when they took him on.

He was being left for too long during the day ,which caused him anxiety.

His current owners have worked on this ,and Rocco settles now for a few hours.

Edited from the previous advert Rocco reference prey drive -:

Rocco’s prey drive is no higher than owners parents/ friends dogs - squirrel, deer, and rabbits he will chase if he’s off lead but when he knows they are faster he will come back, just needs someone who can implement the training re ‘prey’. He’s not bothered about horses, sheep, cows etc. if there’s a rabbit in a cage he’s not too worried (like if he knows he has no chance to actually get it, if you’re holding it he’ll just sniff it then leave it and wonder off but I wouldn’t put it down on the floor - he just wants to play with everything, but obviously doesn’t let go of birds/ mice) it’s just if it’s running around in front of him (like in a field).

NOTE Rocco is also a sock stealer ,so we would advise his new owners to pack socks away out of his reach.

Rocco might take things if available such as (socks, birds, mice, anything he shouldn’t have!) does need work. Defo no nervous owners who would be worried about really training this out of him - Think he needs a bit more consistency with it. He will drop if you go out the room and sometimes you can grab if he forgets about it if he’s distracted with ball or walk etc, but if he knows you want it he’d rather eat it! There is no way he will let you take it out his mouth, and the swapping treat would literally have to be a cooked sausage or something very good for him to consider a trade (he won’t be accepting any markies or anything like that for a juicy sock!).

A tasty treat is needed to swap for any treasures he might have in his belongings.

Rocco can live with another dog or dogs of a similar size ,he is a larger Cockapoo not small.

Can live with children 6 plus if they are permanently in the home (maybe not too boisterous, but then he is very tolerant of the owners young child)visiting children of any age/ babies etc would be fine as long as he has his own place to go to get away from them (and they have clean nappies on as he is partial to sniffing as discussed). He’s gentle with babies/ toddlers etc when he meets them if you holding or they are in pram etc, it’s just when the move around on the floor etc and he realises there’s a nappy he won’t really leave them alone.

Can live with a dog savvy cat (slow introductions would need to be put into place) may chase to start with but he has stayed in a home with a cat a number of days.

No full time workers,Rocco needs human company as he was left long hours in his very first home.

Safe and secure garden with fences/walls at least 5/6 ft ,if you have hedges they must have safe fencing behind them

We would love to rehome Rocco in a home not far from the Seaside,as this is his favourite place to explore.

If you have a holiday book in the future please state on your application form

He is brushed and combed through at home on a regularly basis, which his new owners will need to continue with as doodles coats can matt.

He does attend a Professional Groomers and his current owners also bath and clip him.

Note Rocco we are told loves a bath

Exercise

Rocco gets exercised a few times per day,and has garden playtime throughout the day.

He does go off lead ,but if he sees a bird or mouse he may go off to chase, will come back if called ,but keep tasty treats at the ready.

We suggest using a long training lead, and work on this behaviour with a dog trainer ,or hire dog paddocks.

Rocco is very good walking on his lead, which is a huge bonus.

He loves playing with balls ,and his owners believe he would be an excellent dog to train with agility.

He interacts well with most dogs whilst out and is not bothered by them.

General Information

Rocco Good temperament, super cuddly (loves to nestle in for a cuddle and be close) very loving, bouncy and excitable.May jump up and get over excited when first meeting and greeting, but settles pretty quickly .He is good with children of all ages, however as with any dog would never leave with child alone.

NOTE if very small children get loud he may hump the sofa, this is another reason his current owner would like a home with older children. He does live with children but the youngest can be boisterous and loud,so Rocco will then either hump sofa or take himself off somewhere quiet.

Reluctant to give back socks (this needs some negotiating and training as he will guard)tasty treats needed to swap for the sock

Rocco is toilet trained, but as we state on every advert an odd accident may happen whilst any dog is settling in a new home.

He is non destructive in his home

Sleeps on his own sofa in the living room

Can be left up too 2 hours whilst new owners attend duties ,a little longer on occasions if necessary

Rocco is not crate trained and would hate to be crated

He travels well in the boot of the car, likes to look out of the window

Dislikes the evil Hoover he will bark at it

His loves are the beach and water

Favourite things ,Football! Cuddly toys he will take the stuffing out. He loves zoomies with owners child. Likes a tennis ball thrown (although you have to swap balls because he rarely gives the first one back)

Doodle Aid
